Most Secret Hayagriva Initiation

Hayagriva is a wrathful manifestation of Chenrezig. Although the lineage of this practice originally stems from the Nyingma tradition, the practice of this deity is upheld in Sera Jey Monastery. In fact, Most Secret Hayagriva is considered the main protector of Sera Jey.

As this initiation is a Highest Yoga Tantra initiation, it entails:

• the taking of the bodhisattva vows,
• the taking of the tantric vows, and
• the daily practice of Six Session Guru Yoga for the duration of one's life.

In addition, the specific commitment of this Most Secret Hayagriva initiation is the daily recitation of the mantra of Most Secret Hayagriva.

Dagri Rinpoche also strongly suggests, if at all possible, the completion, in this life, of a retreat of this deity with 100,00 recitations of the mantra and a concluding fire puja.

Program

On Friday afternoon, 3 February, Dagri Rinpoche, during the teaching session on the Stages of the Path, will expound upon the motivation that is needed for taking this initiation. For this reason, everyone who intends to take the initiation is strongly encouraged to attend this session, which will probably take place from 17.00-19.00 (this will be confirmed in the coming days).

The initiation itself will take place in two parts, each over several hours, on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Translation from Tibetan into English will be available via FM radio (participants who need English translation should bring your own radio).

Cost

Participants are asked to make an offering to help cover the costs of the initiation. This offering includes participating in the Friday afternoon teaching on the Stages of the Path.
