Education

Masters Program TeachingsIn the field of Spiritual Education the Institute offers a wide range of courses, study programs, and meditation retreats in the Buddhist tradition of Tibet.

Regular courses and retreats take place on weekends and during holidays, and are taught by both Tibetan masters and Western teachers. These short courses also include introductory level programs that are repeated at regular intervals and suitable for anyone wishing to obtain an overview of Buddhism and meditation in the Tibetan tradition.

The intermediate level study programs are of longer duration and address the subjects covered in the introductory programs in much greater detail, thereby providing a structured and detailed presentation of the entire spiritual path of Tibetan Buddhism combined with meditation practice in daily life.

The  advanced level study programs are based on an in-depth study of the foundational texts of Tibetan Buddhism combined with an emphasis on meditation practice and service to others. The two-year Basic Program is an ideal preparation for the seven-year Masters Program of Advanced Buddhist Studies of Sutra and Tantra.

Specialized tantric empowerments, commentaries, and retreats are for experienced Buddhist practitioners. Commentaries include both shorter courses offered during holiday periods as well as much longer courses included in the advanced level study programs.

All the introductory, intermediate, and advanced level programs offered at Lama Tzong Khapa Institute are also available as on-line courses.

Courses on the Tibetan Language complement the study of Buddhism in the Tibetan tradition, and are especially recommended for students of the advanced level study programs.

The Institute also hosts regular courses and retreats related to other Buddhist traditions as well as in other spiritual traditions.

Courses included in Interdisciplinary Education cover a variety of subjects, many of which integrate the knowledge of the human mind, the ethical values, and the emphasis on compassion and wisdom contained in the Buddhist teachings.
