Advanced Programs

Lama Tzong Khapa Insitute is renowned for the excellent quality of its in-depth study programs of Buddhist philosophy and psychology. These programs are taught by Tibetan geshes (holders of a Buddhist philosophical degree conferred by a monastic university) and qualified Western teachers, themselves often graduates of the Institute's study programs.

• The Basic Program of Buddhist Studies is offered at Lama Tzong Khapa Insitute as a two-year full-time residential program as well as an on-line program. It is an intensive program that balances study with meditation and service. Eight of the nine modules are accredited. Full-time students who complete all components of the program qualify for the FPMT Basic Program Completion Certificate and can become FPMT registered in-depth teacher. Online students who complete all components of the program qualify for the FPMT Basic Program Home Study Completion Certificate.

• The Masters Program of Advanced Buddhist Studies of Sutra and Tantra is offered exclusively at Lama Tzong Khapa Institute. This seven-year program consists of four years of sutra studies, two years of tantric studies, and one year of solitary retreat. It is offered both as a full-time residential and on-line course. While the residential course can be done exclusively for one's own personal interest and spiritual growth, it is particularly aimed at forming qualified Western teachers of Buddhism. The next cycle begins January 2014.
