Preservation
Preservation
The Institute engages in various types of activities in support of preserving the Buddhist tradition in general and the lineage passed down to us from the Buddha through the Indian pandits of Nalanda to the Tibetan masters of the Lama Tzong Khapa tradition in particular.
These activities include
- offering courses in the Tibetan language,
- publishing Dharma texts and practice materials,
- the translation into English and Italian of Dharma books, texts, and practice materials,
- audio and video recording and archiving of teachings on Buddhism given at the Institute,
- the construction of holy objects such as temples, statues, stupas, and prayer wheels,
- the preservation of Buddhist art including the painting and sculpting of holy images, and
- the hosting of events such as the Maitreya Project Relic Tour, and
- the annual ILTK festival.
In addition the Institute’s community regularly participates in activities in support of the preservation of Tibetan culture through attending peace marches and conferences in favor of the freedom of Tibet, hosting courses on Traditional Tibetan Medicine and healing techniques, and organizing Tibetan langu age courses.
